After boldly leaving a volatile relationship, Emily and her family needed a safe place to go. As a newly single mom, she was struggling to maintain full time employment, support her children’s education, and find stable housing. Emily relied on the help of family and friends, but in the midst of a pandemic, that was difficult and unsustainable.
Wanting to build a secure and lasting future for her family, Emily made the brave decision to come to Raleigh Rescue Mission. The first few days were difficult, as her family had to quarantine while waiting on COVID test results. Feelings of isolation and doubt crept in, and as her children grew restless, Emily wondered if she made the right decision.
Things began to turn around as Emily’s children engaged with the Children’s Development Center. Early childhood staff worked closely with her family to establish online learning, tutoring, and a healthy school and play schedule. This gave Emily the peace of mind she needed to move forward.
At the Mission, Emily has access to onsite counseling services, where she is continuing to grow her strength and confidence as an individual and as a mother. She is enhancing her job skills and abilities through vocational training. As she prepares to enter Jobs for Life, she is planning out her career goals and focusing on her personal growth.
Emily is excited about all that the future holds. She knows the journey is just beginning, but she is courageously leading her family toward a bright new life.
Because of your support, Emily and her family have a safe place to build a secure future.
