The current dangerous extreme heat this week and into the weekend is triggering a Summer White Flag program, where partners associated with Partnership To End Homelessness are opening their doors to come in and cool off. Under this program those experiencing homelessness can find places in Wake County to find shelter and cool off once the temperature is 99° or above, or the heat index reaches 101°. Typically the hours of participating centers are from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Raleigh Rescue is part of that program, and will provide additional hours for men, women, and children to come and stay cool has heat index is forecast to be close to 115°!
